Volunteers Needed During "Dead Man Walking"

Parents, we need your help to make "Dead Man Walking" a success. There are several opportunities for you to help out.

Check here to see which positions are still unfilled.

Help support your student's positive theatre experience. Please consider where your talents can be used and volunteer today at volunteers@tuhstheatre.com. Some people might even want to sign up in several areas. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask.

Set up

We have tentatively scheduled one day to assemble the set. We will beed as many adult and student volunteers as possible. Please consider volunteering to help assemble the set, even if it is just for an hour or so.

Date to be announced:

Ticket Sales

Each performance will need one adult to sell tickets. Please pick a day that you are available and sign up for a shift at volunteers@tuhstheatre.com. Duty ends when the ticket booth closes 15 minutes after the curtain goes up. After your shift, you are free to watch your student on stage as our thank you.

You need to arrive 45 minutes prior to curtain. That means 2:45 PM for the Wednesday matinees, and 6:45 PM for the evening performances.

Donate Items for Concessions

We will be selling drinks and snacks before each performance and during intermission. Funds raised will be used to help purchase items on Mr. Clark's Theatre Wish List. Below is a list of some items that we would like to be donated for concessions. Please note that, because of contractual obligations, we cannot use products that compete with Coca Cola products. Also, all items must be store bought -- we are not allowed to sell home made items unless you have a licensed kitchen. Please contact us at concessions@tuhstheatre.com if you can donate all or some of the items listed below.

Concessions

We need one adult at each performance to sell concessions. Concessions will be open one half hour before each performance and during intermission. The concession table can be closed when the lobby is empty. Volunteers will set up the concessions table and put the items away at the end of the intermission.

You need to arrive 30 minutes prior to curtain. That means 3:00 PM for the Wednesday matinee, and 7 PM for the evening performances.

Snacks for the Performers

The issue of snacks is a tricky one. Many types of foods can cause issues with the voices of our performers (dairy, citrus, and sugared sodas are notorious for this). Some types of foods are so aromatic that they interfere with the concentration (e.g. pizza). We have tried to provide guidance on a day-by-day basis below.

For all of the evening performances, we expect most students will eat dinner before coming to performance. For those who have not had an opportunity to eat, we would like to have water and bananas on hand for a light, healthy snack. Let us know if you would like to help with that.

Wednesday Matinees

We would like to provide healthy snacks for the performers before both matinees. There will be 40 performers and tech crew each time. If you can bring some sugar-free or healthy snacks or mints to the Green Room, for the matinees, please contact us at: volunteers@tuhstheatre.com. No citrus or food that has a strong smell. Following is a list of suggested items.

Friday, March 5 and Saturday, March 6

On both days, we will only have cookies for the actors after the performances, since many of the students will be going out after the performance. If you can donate a variety of cookies, please let us know at volunteers@tuhstheatre.com. <-- Friday, March 6 will be for the Crimson Cast; Saturday, March 7 will be for the Silver Cast. --> There will about 40 students each night.

Closing nights: Friday, March 12 and Saturday, March 13

On both days, we would like to have some special treat to celebrate a job well done for the close of each Cast's run. If you would like to bring in a special treat, please let us know what you would like to bring by dropping a line to volunteers@tuhstheatre.com Suggested items include a decorated cake, cupcakes, pizza, soda pop. Saturday night will also be the final night and the striking of the set. There will about 40 students each night, with a few extra Saturday evening.

Clean Up and Set Strike

Immediately after the performance on Saturday, March 13, the cast and volunteers will strike the set. Depending on how many volunteers we have, this can take one to two hours. If you are available, please contact us at volunteers@tuhstheatre.com. Following is a list of some of the tasks we will be doing:
